I only have a futon mattress in the living room that folds down. In the bedroom we have a queen sized blow up air mattress that uses a temperpedic cushion. Its very comfortable and reliable. We've had it for two years now. you should check your local wal mart, when we bought ours a couple years back I believe they were about $99.
