Red Robin Gourmet Burgers Restaurant in Morgan Hill
Saturday night Z and I found ourselves exceedingly hungry rather early in the evening. So, we headed off to our favorite Chinese buffet in Gilroy. Alas, they have recently gone out of business
Unable to think of another dinner buffet in the area (the Saturday night crowd at Hometown Buffet is beyond my personal tolerance level) we decided to head back home to Morgan Hill and try the new Red Robin in the Target center at Cochrane and 101. Huge mistake…
I ended up paying $38 for two hamburgers (which didn’t look remotely like the picture below), about two-dozen “steak” fries, a chicken quesadilla, and two root beers. None of which was really very tasty. The fact that it was so over-priced would most likely keep us away in the future, but not merit the single star rating out of five that this particular Red Robin restaurant earned from us last Saturday.

We called ahead to make sure the wait wasn’t too long (five minutes at 6pm on Saturday evening) and accepted one of the small, high tables in the bar area in order to get seated more quickly upon our arrival (despite the fact the three booths alongside this area were open and available). We quickly perused the menu and then placed our order when the server showed up to ask if we wanted water. Remember, we headed out to eat early because we found ourselves really hungry and then drove to Gilroy and back seeking a restaurant. That’s also why we ordered the quesadilla, which is listed under the ‘Starters’ section of the menu. We wanted something in our bellies quickly.

We spent the next fifteen minutes mostly watching auto racing and football on the restuarant’s televisions. Not because we’re fans of either (we’re not), but because the general noise level made conversation exceedingly difficult. We also watched people be seated at all three of the booths I previously mentioned, watch them order, watched them receive and consume their appetizers, er… starters. Meanwhile, our waiter (not to mention our food) was nowhere to be seen. He finally showed up with free refills of our drinks, then brought out our “starter” moments before the surrounding tables (all of whom arrived after we did) received their entrees. Of course, our burgers were out within two minutes of our appetizer as well (so much for the concept of a “starter” to hold you over while waiting for your entree).

Our waiter once again disappeared only appearing as we finished our burgers to drop off the check, whisk away our baskets, and assure us that there was “no hurry”. Of course, there was no offer for more french fries (they advertise “unlimited fries”) or beverage refills. Since I started out this review complaining about the cost of this mediocre meal I suppose I should thank the server for the one benefit he provided us: no tip for him means more cash for me. I’m sure he was upset by the $1.00 tip he received (roughly 2.5%), but hopefully he’ll either take the criticism or get another job.

That place sucks and is overpriced… and apparently doesn’t have the best service either.
Thanks!I finally found someone who finds this place awful. The price is not worth the eat for sure. Foods always cold and bland. To be precise tasteless.
Auto racing is the name of my game. I like to watch auto racing and i’m a muscle car fanatic.;*.
