Safe Trick or Treating in Downtown Morgan Hill on Halloween Night
Halloween is my favorite holiday, by a long shot, though I’m not exactly a big fan of trick or treating. It was great when I was a kid, but as the father of a child with weight issues, the idea of a holiday celebration focused on gathering as much free candy as possible is pretty much a turn-off. Which doesn’t mean Z won’t be wandering the neighborhood scoring sweets from neighbors along with throngs of other kids. She will, however, be doing so with her mother down in Gilroy.
This will be my third Halloween here in Morgan Hill and I expect a grand total of zero ghouls and goblins ringing my bell. This is based exclusively on the fact that in neither of the last two years has it happened. The reason may be because I live in a low-cost housing complex with more children than adults capable of affording to give away grocery money. But more likely, it’s due to the Safe Trick Or Treat Event held in downtown Morgan Hill and sponsored by the Morgan Hill Downtown Association.
Just dress up your little munchkins, give them a candy bag of your choice, and head off to Monterey Rd (between Main & Dunne) on Halloween night, October 31st, between 5 and 7:30. In addition to candy gathering possibilities there will be a mini baseball park, face painting and possibly much, much more.
