Uesugi Farms – Field Of Screams – Now Hiring!

Every October Uesugi Farms has not only one of the largest Pumpkin Patches in the Bay Area, but also hosts the Field of Screams haunted attraction. Although their website still hasn’t been updated from last year, a recent driveby not only showed preparations starting to gear up, but also a sign noting that hiring would begin tomorrow, September 2nd.

Last year, in addition to the Uesugi Farms Pumpkin Park (featuring Pumpkin Pete’s Enchanted Hayride, the Pumpkinville Railroad, Storybook Path, Cow Train, Bootsie The Bee, a carousel, PumpkinTime Theatre, a Pumpkin Lab, and their famous Pumpkin Pyramid) the Field of Screams also contained the Haunted Corn Maze, a Mutant Creek Hayride, and the X-Streme Scream Sideshow of Terror.

Opening night for the public should be October 2nd or 3rd, but those looking to sign-on for some work this Halloween season should head down as early as possible.  Here are the hiring details from last year (this year’s should be similar)-

Join our Boo Crew and get paid for having fun! Pay ranges from $8 .00/hr to $12.00/hr. Positions range from parking attendants and cashiers to security personal and actors. We are also hiring tractor drivers for our hay ride and train drivers at our Pumpkin Park.

We supply  incentives and bonuses to our actors and in addition have a ‘Cash Bonus Party’ on Oct. 31st.  We start training late September, and opening day is October 11th.  Keep in mind this job isn’t for everyone. It’s not as easy as it sounds, but if you’re into scaring people in a fun environment, you can make it through.

We take our fun seriously, and expect our Boo Crew to meet or exceed our high standards of customer service, and job responsibility.

Actor Requirements:
No acting experience is necessary, but the job requires a desire to do your best. Acting in a haunted house can be both fun and rewarding. The power you have over people looking to be frightened can be extremely exhilarating. We look for actors that can show up on time, work weekends, have transportation to and from work, and most importantly have some love of the genre. If you’ve always wanted to dress up as your favorite monster, be someone else and run around scaring the daylights out of people and make money doing it, this is the job for you.

Make Up Artists:

Experience is a requirement for this position. You must be able to work quickly and most importantly be a creative person! To apply for this position you will be required to show us a portfolio and a possible demonstration.

Crowd Control/Security:
Experience is also required for this position. You must have GOOD people skills! This is not a bar, where you throw people out on their head…lol! We need people that can handle a disruption to the operation without resorting to violence. We’re not looking for muscle bound hot heads. It is important that you are physically fit and perform a variety of tasks including; helping open the attraction each night, clean up, monitor and assist patrons who have lost items.
Our hiring fair is August 25th and September 8th.

I’m already working 120 hours per week, so won’t be able to join the Boo Crew, but rest assured that Z and I will be visiting and reporting the event as soon as it goes live!
