Downtown Morgan Hill Street Fair Report

Z and I just returned from a pleasant jaunt through downtown Morgan Hill.  It was hoppin’ on this last summer Saturday.

We started with our quasi-traditional morning meal at Just Breakfast, which has changed the menu around, yet again, though both the food and service are still top notch.  I really hope all of these changes aren’t a sign that they’re in a downward spiral financially.  I’ve been a huge fan of Just Breakfast (in both San Jose and Morgan Hill) for years and both Z and I will be really sad to see them go.

Then it was off to the Downtown Street Fair, sponsored by the Morgan Hill Downtown Association.  Thankfully (IMO) it wasn’t packed, though there seemed to be a fairly healthy crowd exploring the almost 30 booths set-up on 2nd St between Monterey and Depot.

Splash, from the Morgan Hill Aquatics Center was there (that’s him with Z above/right), and a local team was recruiting for the Alzheimer’s Memory Walk (left).  Of course, there were plenty of local artists and crafts booths as well as a couple of local musicians.

In appreciation for Z helping me out when I was blind for a day I purchased her this beautiful necklace from a local jewelry maker whose name I’ve forgotten (if you’re reading this, please comment so I can give you proper credit!).  While we were browsing her booth agust of wind knocked over one of her displays, so if you plan on getting a booth at future street fairs in Morgan Hill be sure to bring something to secure your items.

Several of the Morgan Hill Art Mushrooms (created in conjunction with Art Bay Area) were on display, including our favorite, the Memory Walk Wizard of Oz Mushroom pictured below-

Our favorite booth was actually from the South Valley Quilt Association They were raffling off three quilts, offering others for sale and promoting their 2008 Harvest Quilt Show which will be held at the Morgan hill Community & Cultural Center in conjunction with the annual Taste of Morgan Hill festival September 27-28.  We bought six tickets, so look for a “we won” post after the quilt show :)
