Get Your Banzai Fix From Screenlife Games

ScreenLife Games is at it again. They launched a new Banzai game. Check it out:

Screenlife Games is the company that practically invented the DVD game with their Scene It family game. Their new party game is called Banzai.  Instead of clips from moves (or TV shows), like Scene It, Banzai shows players clips from the comedy/game hit Super Banzai Video Show and then asks players to bet on th eventual outcome of the stunt.

But the funny and bizarre clips are just the beginning of the fun.  Like any good party game, Banzai requires goofy interaction from the players.  In this case, players have only 15 seconds to place their bets.  Now that may seem like plenty of time, but I still haven’t explained how you place your bets.  It’s nothing as pedestrian as writing down a number, or even throwing some multi-colored chips into the middle of the table.  No, those aren’t nearly Banzai enough to relate to a japanese game show.  instead, players bet by throwing colorful pieces of sushi into a multi-colored community betting bowl.  Sound easy?  Oh, did I mention the pieces of sushi are really small?  How about the fact that you can’t touch the sushi or the (bowl) with any part of your body? In fact you have to pick up the pieces and get them into the betting bowl using only chopsticks!  The winner is declared once a single player wins all the sushi.

My daughter Z is already all-over playing this game once our copy arrives in the mail (we ordered it directly from the site). This is based not only on the how to play video from their site, but also due to their mascot: Tako-gotchi. That’s him (minus a tentacle) in the screenshot to the left. He’s so cool he even has his own MySpace page at www.myspace.com/takotheocto

One of the best things about Banzai is that literally anyone can play it since no special (or general) knowledge is required. Even a child so young that they’re just randomly placing bets can still have a blast (and actually win if they’re lucky enough). I’ll be playing it with my roommate/clients who don’t have the mental capacity to play more complex games. However, at the same time I’ll be able to play it with the intelectual types frmo the book club and such because it’s simply a blast to play!
