Unfortunately, I jumped the gun when purchasing my tickets to see the Mythbusters live at the finale of FOTA 2008 here in Morgan Hill. It turns out my daughter won’t be able to attend that evening and as much as I like the Mythbusters personally it just won’t be the same without her. So now I’m stuck either eating the $100 purchase price (I got really good seats in Orchestra Row G) or trying to sell them on eBay. The problem with eBay is that the fees can become exorbitant, especially when accepting PayPal.
I suppose I could take this opportunity to try out the Free Ticket Exchange website I recently heard about. Essentially, Free Ticket Exchange is a social networking version of Stub Hub or traditional face-to-face ticket scalping. Users create a profile talking about the types of events the like to attend. Then sellers can check out the profile of people in their Fan Network and select the person not just with the best offer, but with the most passion for the event itself. It’s a genius idea, really – leveraging the power of the internet to help people attend the events they really want while removing the purely mercenary feeling involved in selling tickets to an event you can’t attend for some reason.
