Frutista Freeze Not Fruitista Freeze at Taco Bell

Frutista Freeze NOT Fruitista Freeze! As I was out walking a couple of days ago I noticed employees at the local Taco Bell on Monterey putting out signs for their new Frutista Freeze. Now here’s a new product that’s just full of deception.

First off, there’s the name. 99% of people that see the sign or hear an add think the name is Fruitista Freeze with an “i” both before and after the “t”. But, it’s not, it’s Frutista Freeze. There is no ‘fruit’ in the name because there is no fruit in the drink! Nope. It’s may be made with “Natural Fruit Flavor”, but it doesn’t have any natural fruit nutrition in it.

Next is the strawberries. Although advertised as being topped with “Real Strawberries” when you check the nutritional information on Taco Bell’s website you’ll see that they refer to it as “strawberry topping”. It is, in fact, some type of strawberry compote (meaning it’s got tons of added sugar) which may contain some real strawberry, but certainly not more than one.

Finally, there’s the television advertising. They show a guy enjoying his Frutista Freeze out of a 32oz cup, not the dinky 16oz cup that you’ll receive upon ordering one of these concoctions. Don’t believe me? Well, print out this coupon for a free Frutista Freeze and try one for yourself without actually supporting the false advertising.

If you use the coupon, you’re gonna get the smaller size. Hence the reason it’s free. If you pay, you get the 32oz size. No fruit? What else is new? How many fast food restaurants do you know of that have ‘real fruit’ drinks. Get real.

Dude…this drink is awesome! I got one and it’s very refreshing. Add some booze and you got a masterpiece! I bought it and got a 32 ounce.

I agree with Selro and Joe. This drink is really good! I love the mango one. Who cares if it doesn’t have real fruit?!?!?! As long as i don’t drink it everyday all day I doubt it is going to be the sole reason for my getting fat! Not to mention that when I order a drink for taste, I am not normally looking for it’s nutritional value!

Yep … another “deception” by Taco Bell!!! It did taste good though!

Think the old dodgy advertising bit is pretty much accross the board
      tbh

I know what you mean , a lot of fastfood companies doing this, i.e the burger in the commercial would look bigger and fluffier than the one you’ll get.

Sadly this deceptive method is very common and at the moment I think there are no effective laws against this.

I absolutely love the mango frutista. I have been getting 1 a day for a couple of wks now. Can anyone offer any ideas on how to make them? I know there is no real fruit in them. I don’t care. I just love the way they taste & would like to make my own instead of running out every day for 1. Thanks.

I guess this is going to become less actual because of the world financial depression, what do you think?

The Frutista is what triggered my complete ban of Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and KFC or any other company joined with these guys. All have terrible ads and food. Not to mention I hated the Frutista, that thing sucks.

Oh, these are heavenly. My daughter and I just love the Frutista. And by the way, I believe the reason “frutista” doesn’t have the “i” in the first syllable is that it’s derived from the Spanish word Fruta and not the English word Fruit, in my humble opinion. Remember the Chihuahua that said: “Quiero Taco Bell?” LOL

Anyway, although I love these Frutistas my daughter has to have one almost every day, every day if I let her. Although I drink them slow I always get a brain freeze almost immediately. I usually wait until it has melted down some.

I haven’t tried the mango yet because the strawberry one is so awesome that I am afraid to mess up. But now, judging by the comments here, I will have to try the mango. I am not afraid of calories because I am only 90 lbs and in any case, if it’s true that they can put some weight on, then I don’t have anything to worry about. Just love the stuff!
