Dockers Wants To See YOUR Style

75x75Did you know that Dockers was a local company? No, not Morgan Hill local, but Bay Area local. They’re a division of Levi Strauss & Co which was founded in San Francisco more than 135 years ago. Since I don’t know of any pants manufacturers/designers in Morgan Hill that’s about as local as we’re going to get in the menswear arena. Think for a moment how many different fashions you’ve seen in your lifetime alone and then imagine that you’d been designing clothing for nearly a century and a half. Personally I’ve gone through about half a dozen styles in my nearly 40 years roaming this planet. As a youngster I wore corduroy pants and t-shirts with silly slogans. As I approached and entered my teens I discovered punk rock and converted over to the torn, ratty style popularized by Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols. My mother dropped me in military school for high school (possibly as a result of my fashion choices) so most of those years were spent in uniform although I also discovered genuine fashion as a result of working as a stagehand for local fashion shows. After high school I lived a double life of sorts – with a closet full of punk attire mixed with the latest in male fashion. That came to a rather abrupt end when I went homeless and function trumped fashion in every aspect of my life. After settling into genuine adulthood I found a way to blend both utilitarianism and fashion, which is when I discovered Dockers for the first time. This has remained my personal style for about a decaade now – casual slacks and shirts that are both sturdy and attractive at the same time. Now that I’ve shared my own fashion faux pas, Dockers wants to see your style. All you need to do is video your own TV commercial showing off your Dockers style and submit it into their Dockers contest. Selected videos will be shown on NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno!
