A Bird In The Hand … Makes For A Messy Wrist ;)

We’ve been considering getting a pet for one of my clients in order to help him feel more connected to the the world. He lost both of his parents within the last two years and despite having several siblings in the area his only real contact with other people is with myself and our other roommate. Of course, getting him a pet really means getting me a pet as I’ll be the one entirely responsible for its care and feeding. The traditional companion animals, dogs and cats, are out of bounds because of the risk of injury and, frankly, none of us are that excited about fish. So we’re exploring the possibility of getting a bird or possibly a pair.

Of course before we can even consider the birds themselves we need a home for them and with The Pet Station having turned into Le Pooch Grooming and the inability of many owners to control their dogs in Petco, this left us no local alternative.

So, once again, I turned to the world wide web and quickly discovered YCA Cages.  They’ve got an excellent selection and are currently offering totally free shipping(!) which can be a substantial savings when you’re talking about something as large as a birdcage.  Knowing little about a bird’s needs my favorite part of the site is the ability to shop for a cage based on what type of bird you have (or are considering).  This was not only a tremendous hel pin keeping my client focused on the right area of the site, but also in educating me on just how much space our winged friends will need.
